Local places to eat

Being a self-catering site, something our guests often ask is ‘where is good to eat? Although we have information in the cabins about local pubs/restaurants, it is always good to be able to give personal recommendations too.

Depending on how far you want to travel, there are many places within driving distance which provide some delicious food. Some, but not all, of our favourites are listed below.

The Old King Head in Brockdish. This is a favourite of mine for two reasons, pizza and gin. This wonderful pub specializes in stone baked pizza made to order, pasta, salads, dough balls, dipping breads with olive oil, hand-made puddings, home baked cakes, coffee and tea. Not only do they provide all of that, they have a collection of 148 gins which continues to grow. This is definitely worth a visit, but book before you go. 01379 668843

Another wonderful place to eat is Thornham Four Horseshoes. This is a local pub which serves delicious pub grub. They also often have a carvery which is really tasty, made with locally sourced food. Their puddings are delicious too. To book a table here, call 01379 678777

Hoxne Swan isn’t too far away and also has a great menu. With a wonderful garden you can sit it over the summer months, or a restaurant with an open fire for the winter months, this is a lovely place to visit. Again, I would recommend booking a table, you can call them on 01379 668275

If a vegetarian or vegan option is what you are looking for, the Walnut Tree is the place for you. With a large menu of choices, this is a wonderful place to sample lot of different vegetarian options. To book yourself a table, call 01449 766003

If you’re out towards to coast, The Ship at Dunwich is a wonderful place to eat. With a stunning menu and the smell of the sea, you really can’t go wrong.

Perhaps you’re here with us celebrating a special occasion, or maybe you just wanted to treat yourselves. There are a few fine dining establishments in the local area too. Some of our recommendations would include The Fox and Goose in Fressingfield has a beautiful menu. Locally it is a firm favourite and once you have tasted the food you’ll see why. There is also the Bull Auberge restaurant just outside Eye. This fine dining establishment also proved some delicious food which is not to be missed.

We hope that you find something tasty to eat while you stay with us. If you do, why not leave a comment on a google or Facebook review so that other guests can see where you’ve been.
