If you are visiting us the first of the Suffolk produce you need to try is sold in our reception. We sell local bacon, sausages and eggs. Having sampled them myself I have to say they can’t be beaten. It is the perfect way to start your day when you’re staying here with us. Many of the local pubs and restaurants cook using locally sourced produce too.
If you travel further afield, to the local beaches you are able to sample freshly caught sea food in the chip shops and in restaurants. The Boardwalk restaurant on Southwold Peir does absolutely delicious food, most of which is local. Amy and I decided that we should test the places we recommend and we had an afternoon tea there, it was the best afternoon tea I have ever had. Just looking back at the picture makes my mouth water. If you fancy this, please note that you have to book 24 hours in advance.
While you're in Southwold, another must visit is Harris and James ice cream shop. They sell home made gelato, home roasted coffee and home made chocolates. Their ice cream can also come in a takeaway tub, perfect to bring back and enjoy in your lodge.
In the local market town of Eye there is a chocolate shop which is all made locally. Cocoa Mama is delicious and you can even get chocolates made to order. There hot chocolate isn’t one to miss either.
There are lots of local jams and pickles, cakes, sauasage rolls, cheeses, honeys and much more. Suffolk really is full of delicious food you don’t want to miss out on.
