Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution. Every July, people worldwide take part, and here at Log Cabin Holidays, we are trying to do our part too! Although we appreciate that we cannot ban plastics onsite, there's one big question we ask ourselves..
Do we recycle when on holiday? The answer should always be YES. No matter how simple it may seem to just bag everything up and bin it. We want to keep encouraging our guests to recycle.
Over the years, we have made some small changes to meet our goal and where it is not possible to eliminate plastic, we have come up with ways to reduce our plastic usage. This starts from supplying guests with glassware/china within the lodge kitchens, nothing plastic or disposable, to providing our housekeeping team with refill solutions.
Throughout our site, we have increased the number of recycling bins and relocated them so that each cabin can access them easily. Not only do we recycle plastic, but we also recycle glass, tins, cardboard and paper. Our online welcome booklets explain our recycling policy and where the bins are situated. Within each lodge, we laminate recycling instructions also.
We are now looking into ways to make it even easier for guests to recycle by supplying separate bins/containers. If you have any ideas, please do get in touch - we love all feedback and suggestions to help us improve our facilities.
Plastic free July is the perfect time for you to think beyond your habits and to inspire others to make a change. We are all in this together and it is up to each one of us to make a difference. We look forward to hearing from you all.
